The Buddhist TV at Sambodhi Viharaya Gregory’s Road Colombo 7 Sri Lanka is established to perform the task of propagation of the Dhamma to the mankind and towards mind unshaken. The Buddhist is the Premier Buddhist Television Channel in Sri Lanka and is dedicated primarily to the spreading of the sacred Teaching of the Supremely Enlightened Buddha and issues associated with spiritual matters. The content being transmitted focus the philosophic aspect of Buddhism and distributed via satellite round the Clock spreading to the global viewers right round the earth.The channel is a non profit oriented Organization inspiringly pioneered by Venerable Daranagama Nayaka Thero the Chief Incumbent of Sri Sambodhi Viharaya Gregery’s Road Colombo 7 Sri Lanka. The generosity of both individuals and the Institutions in the public and private sectors is its main stay.
It is pertinent to point out here how this first ever Sri Lankan exclusively.Buddhist Television Channel came into being. A pious gentleman by the name of Mr. Muhunthan Canagey, who belongs to the Tamil Community and is a born Hindu who was the CEO of CBN Sat the first ever DTH service in Sri Lanka, was the originator of this Channel and when this Company was to be acquired by the Dialog TV, he insisted on having a Sri Lankan Buddhist Channel in their religious program package and donated all the equipment including the Studio to Sri Sambodhi Viharaya. The supreme patronage extended by His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha the President of democratic Socialist and republic of Sri Lanka is a perennial source of strength and the encouragement.
The channel is duly registered at the Sri Lanka Business registration Bureau in accordance with the business registration Act of Democratic ,Socialist and Republic of Sri Lanka and functions as fully non profit oriented charity Organization since the year 2007. Following Directors/Committee chaired by the Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero as the President extend their honorary service to the Organization

The Chief Incumbent of Sri Ssmbodhi Viharaya of Gregory’s Road Colombo 7 Sri Lanka Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero. spared no pains to counter the vilification of Lord Buddha. He emphasized the need of a Buddhist TV channel to mankind and brought this to the notice of all concerned and obtained the assistance of all individuals.

Mr. Suranimala Senaratne acts as the honorary secretary to both Buddhist TV and Sri Sambodhi Vhiraya whilst assuring his responsibilities as the Managing Director toward his own business. His contribution towards the channel is greatly appreciated
